Mixed Visual and Machine Grading to Select Eucalyptus grandis Poles into High-Strength Classes

Before round timber can be profitably used in construction, it needs structural characterization. The visual grading of Eucalyptus grandis poles was integrated with additional parameters developed by multivariate regression analysis. Acoustic velocity and dynamic modulus elasticity were combined density pole diameter the estimation bending strength stiffness. best models achieved to group visually graded material into qualitative classes. Overall, single predictor; adding model improved but not separated two classes very distinct mechanical properties. including as a parameter did perform well. effectively combining nondestructive measurements. determination should preferred over that acoustic velocity.
